How to set up a mail account using POP in Apple Mail
Learn how to add a POP email account to Apple Mail on your Mac in a few straightforward steps.
Before you begin, make sure you have already created the email account in cPanel. You will need your incoming and outgoing mail server details, your full email address, and your email password.
Add the account
-
Open Apple Mail, click Mail in the menu bar, then click Add Account.

-
Enter your name as you want it to appear on outgoing messages, your full email address, and the password for that address.

-
Click Continue.

Configure the incoming mail server
-
Select POP as the account type, then enter a short description to identify this account (for example, "Work email").

-
Enter the Incoming Mail Server hostname provided by Kualo - this is typically
mail.yourdomain.com. Enter your username (usually your full email address), then click Continue.
Configure the outgoing mail server
-
Enter a description for the outgoing server, then enter the Outgoing Mail Server hostname (the same hostname you used for incoming mail).

-
Tick Use Authentication, enter your username and password, then click Continue.

Kualo mail servers require authentication for outgoing mail. Make sure this option is ticked.
Finish setup
-
Review the summary of your settings. If everything looks correct, click Create.

-
Your new mailbox will appear in the Apple Mail sidebar and any messages already on the server will begin to download.

POP downloads messages to your device and, by default, removes them from the server. If you want to access your email from multiple devices, consider setting up an IMAP account instead.
