Export a contact list

Export a list as a CSV to back up your data, analyse your audience, or move it to another tool.

1 min read Updated 10 Jun 2026

Exporting a list is available on selected plans. If you don't see the export option, it may not be included on your current plan - get in touch and we'll let you know your options.

You can export a list as a CSV file - handy for backing up your data, analysing your audience, or moving contacts to another tool. The export includes each subscriber's ID, status, email and your configured attributes, and exporting doesn't remove anyone from the list.

Export a list

  1. Select Audience, then Contacts.
  2. Open the Exports menu.
  3. Select Export contacts.
  4. The export is processed and made available to download.
  5. Download your CSV within five days - it stays on the Export page for that long.

What's in the file

  • Subscriber ID
  • Address status (active, unsubscribed, and so on)
  • Email address
  • Your custom attributes
  • Subscription date and other metadata

Troubleshooting

No export option - check it's on your plan, you have permission, and the list actually has contacts; select the list first.

Export is slow - large lists can take 10-30 minutes; watch for the completion notification, or try a smaller segment.

Can't download the file - files expire after five days, so generate a fresh one; check downloads aren't blocked and try another browser.

The CSV looks corrupted - open it in a spreadsheet app (not a text editor), check the delimiter (comma vs semicolon), and make sure it's read as UTF-8.

Missing data - confirm your attributes are configured and hold data, and try exporting the full list rather than a segment.

If an export won't generate, open a support ticket.
