How to upgrade a script installed by Softaculous

Keep your installed scripts up to date by upgrading them directly through Softaculous in cPanel.

1 min read Updated 4 Jun 2026

Keeping your scripts updated is important - new versions often fix security vulnerabilities and bugs. Softaculous makes it straightforward to upgrade any script it has installed.

Check for available upgrades

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Softaculous Apps Installer.
  2. Click the All Installations icon (a small box/grid icon) to see every script you have installed through Softaculous.
  3. If a newer version is available for any script, an upgrade icon will appear next to it in the list.

Run the upgrade

  1. Click the upgrade icon next to the script you want to update.
  2. Review the details on the upgrade page, then click Upgrade.
  3. Softaculous will copy the new files over. Once complete, follow any on-screen instructions to finish the upgrade for that particular script.

Some scripts (such as WordPress) may require additional steps after the file upgrade, such as running a database update. Follow the prompts shown after the upgrade completes.

Repeat these steps for any other scripts shown as having available updates.
