What to do after registering a domain

Once your domain is registered, here are the next steps depending on how you plan to use it.

Your new domain is registered - now you need to decide what to do with it. The right next step depends on whether you already have hosting and how you want to use the domain.

If you need hosting

A domain is like a street address: it tells people where to find you, but you still need somewhere to put your website. You have two options:

  • Get a hosting plan from Kualo - visit our hosting options and pick the plan that suits your needs.
  • Point your domain to another provider - if you are using a different host, update your domain's nameservers to point it to the right place.

If you already have hosting

If you have an existing hosting account and want to use your new domain with it, you have a few options.

Add it as an alias (parked domain)

If this domain is simply another name for your existing site, you can add it as an alias in cPanel. An alias also lets you create email addresses at the new domain, or set up a redirect so visitors are automatically sent to another URL.

Add it as an addon domain

If you want a separate website at this domain, you can set it up as an addon domain in cPanel, provided your hosting plan supports it (Startup and above).

Create a new hosting account

If you are a reseller or manage your own server, you may want to create a separate cPanel account in WHM for this domain - useful for client sites or standalone projects.

If you only need DNS management

If you do not have a hosting plan but need to manage DNS records for the domain, contact our support team and we will create a DNS zone for you.

If you do have a hosting plan, the easiest approach is to add the domain as an alias. This lets you edit DNS records directly from cPanel without any extra setup.
