What are private nameservers?

Private nameservers let resellers brand their hosting with their own company name instead of Kualo's default nameservers.

Private nameservers are available on certain reseller plans, letting you run your hosting operation without exposing Kualo's default nameservers (ns1-ns4.kualo.net). This means you can brand your nameservers with your own company name and keep your hosting provider anonymous to your customers.

How private nameservers work

Instead of pointing your customers to Kualo's nameservers, you point them to your own, for example:

ns1.yourcompany.com
ns2.yourcompany.com
ns3.yourcompany.com
ns4.yourcompany.com

Each nameserver hostname needs to be registered with an IP address so that other systems can resolve them. These IP addresses are provisioned by Kualo and included in your reseller welcome email.

Registering your private nameservers

To register your private nameservers, you need to submit each nameserver hostname and its corresponding IP address to the registrar where yourcompany.com is registered.

Some registrars call this process creating "glue records" rather than registering private nameservers - they refer to the same thing.

The exact steps vary between registrars, so if you are unsure how to proceed, contact your registrar's support team and ask them how to register private nameservers or add glue records for your domain.
