Transferring domains away from Kualo
Find out how to transfer your domain away from Kualo, whether it's a UK domain or an international one.
The process for transferring a domain away from Kualo depends on whether it is a UK domain (e.g. .co.uk, .org.uk) or a non-UK domain (e.g. .com, .net, .org). Please read the relevant section below carefully.
Transferring UK domains (e.g. .co.uk, .org.uk)
UK domains are transferred by changing the IPS Tag to that of your new registrar. There is no EPP code involved.
How to transfer
- Log in to your MyKualo account using your registered email address.
- Go to Domains > My Domains.
- Click Manage Domain for the domain you wish to transfer.
- Click the Release Domain tab.
- Enter the IPS Tag of your new registrar exactly as they have provided it.
- Confirm the release.
Important notes
This process is irreversible. Kualo cannot retrieve the domain after release unless the new registrar agrees to return it. Make sure the IPS Tag is correct before you proceed.
- The transfer completes immediately once the IPS Tag is changed.
- Ensure you have the correct IPS Tag from your new registrar before starting.
Transferring non-UK domains (e.g. .com, .net, .org)
Non-UK domains use an EPP (Auth) Code and must be unlocked before a transfer can take place.
How to transfer
- Log in to your MyKualo account using your registered email address.
- Go to Domains > My Domains and click Manage Domain for the relevant domain.
- Click the Registrar Lock tab and disable the lock.
- Go to Management Tools > Get EPP Code.
- Provide the EPP code to your new registrar to initiate the transfer.
Timescale
Transfers usually complete within 5-7 days, depending on your new registrar.
Additional notes
- Make sure your domain's contact email address is valid, as approval requests may be sent there during the transfer.
- Do not re-enable the registrar lock until the transfer has completed.
