Hosting & Plans

Shared Hosting is a regular low-cost web hosting solution suitable for the vast majority of personal and small business web sites, provided under our Solo and Startup plans. For demanding or high-traffic sites, our Business Hosting plans (with "Performance" in the title) are recommended. These include more resources (up to 5 CPU cores and 8GB RAM) and add Redis and Memcached backend caching on top of the LiteSpeed Cache that's included on every plan - keeping sites incredibly fast even under heavy load.

We'd recommend Business Hosting for e-commerce stores, high-traffic sites, or any site that wants to take full advantage of our server-side caching.

For any online store, we'd recommend our Business Hosting range (the plans with "Performance" in the name). On top of the LiteSpeed Cache included on every plan, they add:

  • Redis and Memcached for backend caching - keeps checkout fast under load
  • More resources for handling concurrent shoppers and database queries
  • Higher-frequency database backups - useful when orders are flowing in

Combined with our free Resource Boost feature (see below), this gives you the headroom to handle sales, marketing campaigns and viral traffic moments without breaking a sweat. For Magento specifically, see our Magento Hosting page for plans tuned to its requirements.

Yes! Our primary US hosting facility is in Tampa, FL. We also have a secondary facility in East London, UK.

Either facility delivers fantastic speeds globally, however for best performance we'd recommend during checkout you choose the facility closest to the majority of your visitors. For even faster delivery worldwide, you can pair your hosting with a CDN - see our CDN FAQ for the options. Read more about both facilities on our infrastructure page.

Yes - sustainability is core to how we run our infrastructure. All of our global operations run on 100% renewable energy, and we go further by prioritising infrastructure that minimises power use in the first place.

Our US facility's renewable energy is certified by Green-e, and our UK facility uses green-sourced power procured directly on the Open Energy Market. Both facilities prioritise energy-efficient hardware - NVMe SSDs, modern AMD CPUs, and LiteSpeed Cache combined with Redis reduce per-request power use significantly.

We're also a climate positive business: each month we invest in reforestation and certified carbon removal via Ecologi. We've planted over 20,000 trees and funded the removal of over 100 tons of CO2 so far.

Read our green hosting page for the full picture.

Yes - we offer eligible registered charities our entry-level Solo plan either free of charge or at 50% off, depending on size and circumstances. We also offer discounts of up to 50% across our wider hosting range for charities with larger requirements. Check out our Charity Hosting page for eligibility criteria and details.

Some hosts claim to offer 'unlimited' space, but the reality is that 'unlimited' is a marketing gimmick - the host typically has other restrictions in place that prevent you from actually using a very large amount of disk space. We prefer to be up-front about disk allocations, with no sneaky surprises. We use NVMe SSD storage configured in RAID for full redundancy, and over 95% of sites we host use less than 10GB, so our plans are usually more than adequate. Hosts who offer 'unlimited' usually do so using cheap disks on overcrowded servers - we choose quality over hype.

Our multi-domain plans use one control panel login, so while they're perfect for hosting a number of your own sites, they're not suited for reselling and we don't permit them to be used in this way. If you're looking to resell hosting or provide hosting to others, our reseller packages are a much more robust solution.

Software, Apps & WordPress

Yes, your hosting comes with the world's most popular control panel, cPanel. You can read more about cPanel here.

Yes - WordPress is one of our specialities. Every account includes WP Toolkit in cPanel, giving you:

  • One-click WordPress installation
  • Smart Updates that test plugin and theme updates on a clone before applying them live, so updates don't break your site
  • One-click staging sites to safely test changes
  • Vulnerability scanner that flags plugins and themes with known security issues
  • Security hardening tools to lock down WordPress in one click

We also offer AI Starter Sites - a built-in wizard that creates a complete, multi-page WordPress site for you based on a few questions about your business. AI generates the content, images and layout. You go from zero to a real working site in minutes. Read more about AI Starter Sites.

Whether you're a developer or you've never built a website before, we have options for every level:

  • AI Starter Sites (WordPress): describe what you do, AI builds you a complete site - the fastest way to get from zero to live
  • SiteBuilder: drag-and-drop visual builder for simple sites
  • Softaculous: one-click installer for 300+ applications including WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop, Moodle and many more
  • Bring your own: upload via FTP/SFTP and host any PHP/MySQL or Perl application

See our guide on building a website with Kualo for more detail on which option suits you.

Multiple PHP versions are available and you can switch between them directly from your control panel using PHP Selector. Different domains within your account can run different PHP versions if needed, and you can adjust PHP settings such as memory limits and execution time.

We also maintain hardened support for older PHP versions that have reached end-of-life upstream. If you're running legacy applications that aren't ready to upgrade, you can keep them running securely - we back-port critical security patches so older versions remain safe to use. Very few hosts offer this.

Yes. You can run Node.js applications via the Node.js Selector in cPanel, with multiple versions to choose from. For more advanced workflows that need finer control, you can install and manage Node.js versions via NVM directly from the command line.

See our knowledge base articles on enabling Node.js in cPanel and creating a Node.js app via the command line.

Yes - you may set up any software that runs on PHP/MySQL or Perl. We also include an application catalog (Softaculous) that lets you install over 300 commonly used applications in a few seconds.

Yes - we support every major e-commerce platform:

  • WooCommerce (WordPress): the most widely-used solution, compatible with our AI Starter Sites
  • SureCart (WordPress): a modern, payment-first alternative also compatible with AI Starter Sites
  • Magento: enterprise-grade. See our Magento Hosting page
  • PrestaShop: another popular open-source option. See our Prestashop Hosting page
  • SiteBuilder: includes a basic shopping cart suitable for small product ranges

For higher-traffic stores, our Business Hosting plans include LiteSpeed Cache and Redis to keep checkout snappy under load.

Shell access (SSH) is available free of charge on all of our hosting plans. This is a secured shell environment locked down to your specific hosting account. To enable it, please contact support after setting up your account.

We don't perform site updates directly - software updates can require careful testing of your specific configuration, plugins and customisations, which is best done by you (or someone who knows your site). What we do is provide tools that make updating dramatically easier and safer:

  • WP Toolkit's Smart Updates clones your WordPress site, applies the update on the clone, and visually compares before/after - applying live only if nothing's broken
  • Softaculous auto-update can keep many supported applications up to date automatically
  • Patchman automatically applies critical security patches to CMS platforms without requiring you to do a full update, so you stay protected even if you're behind

For WordPress, you can also configure automatic updates for minor releases via WP Toolkit.

No, root access is not available on any of our shared hosting plans. If you require root access, we'd recommend you purchase a cloud or dedicated server.

Not at this time. You can however use Linux-based hosting regardless of the operating system you use on your own computer, whether it be Windows, Mac or Linux.

Email

Each hosting plan includes a defined number of mailboxes and a per-mailbox storage limit, set out clearly in our resource usage policy. You can run as many email addresses as you like up to your plan limit, with webmail, IMAP, POP3 and SMTP all supported.

If you need more mailboxes or larger storage, you can upgrade your plan, or on Performance and higher plans add a Mailbox Boost addon. More detail in our email storage quotas guide.

All plans have hourly outbound sending limits defined in our resource usage policy. These protect our shared platform from abuse and keep our sending reputation strong - which means your emails get delivered.

If you regularly send marketing emails or high-volume transactional mail, we'd recommend pairing your hosting with a dedicated SMTP service such as SendGrid, Mailgun, or Postmark. These services specialise in deliverability and bypass the shared sending limit entirely.

Yes. All our email hosting includes SpamExperts inbound and outbound filtering - enterprise-grade filtering used by ISPs and large email providers worldwide. It's tuned for industry-leading false-positive rates (legitimate mail rarely gets caught) and strong outbound monitoring (which keeps our sending IP reputation high, meaning your emails are far more likely to land in the inbox).

Combined with DKIM, SPF and DMARC support, our email setup is built for reliable deliverability.

Performance & Servers

Modern, high-performance AMD-based CPUs with clock speeds typically around 5.7GHz and 128GB+ RAM. Storage is fully NVMe SSD configured in RAID for data redundancy - if a drive fails, your site keeps running and we replace the disk without taking the server offline.

We run LiteSpeed Enterprise, widely regarded as the fastest web server available. Combined with PHP via LSAPI (LiteSpeed's high-performance PHP interface), it processes PHP requests several times faster than Apache + mod_php, with significantly lower resource use. Your site loads faster, handles more concurrent traffic, and uses less power.

In short: the platform is insanely fast - and not by accident. Every layer is chosen for performance.

All our hosting plans include LiteSpeed Cache for server-side full-page caching - dramatically faster page loads, even on busy sites. Business Hosting plans add Redis and Memcached for backend caching too.

  • LiteSpeed Cache (LSCache) is built directly into the web server, integrating deeply with most CMS platforms via official LSCache plugins for WordPress, Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Joomla and many more. Pages are served in milliseconds with intelligent cache invalidation when your content changes.
  • Redis stores database query results, sessions and other frequently-accessed data in memory. WordPress, Magento and many other applications use Redis to dramatically reduce database load.
  • Memcached is also available as an alternative backend cache.

Together, these caches mean even traffic-heavy or e-commerce sites stay fast under load.

Yes - using a CDN alongside your hosting is a great way to make your site fast everywhere. CDNs serve static content (images, scripts, stylesheets) from global locations close to your visitors, reducing load times.

  • Cloudflare - the most popular option, with a generous free tier that covers most small to medium sites. Easy to set up by pointing your domain's nameservers to Cloudflare.
  • quic.cloud - purpose-built for LiteSpeed, with deep integration into our LiteSpeed Cache (especially powerful for WordPress). As a Kualo customer you benefit from our partnership with enhanced limits including 20GB/month free.

Both work alongside our server-side caching to deliver the fastest possible experience to your visitors wherever they are.

Yes - available on Performance Plus and higher. OpenSearch is a powerful search engine commonly used by Magento, WordPress (via plugins), and custom applications for fast faceted search and analytics. Very few shared hosting providers offer this, and it can dramatically improve search performance versus the default MySQL-based search.

We guarantee 99.9% uptime across all our hosting plans. Our infrastructure is built for redundancy - NVMe RAID storage, redundant power, and network-level failover - and we monitor every server continuously. See our service guarantees for full details.

Every plan has defined resource limits (CPU, memory, processes, MySQL storage, mailbox quotas, email sending and so on) set out clearly in our resource usage policy. We publish them up-front rather than hiding behind 'unlimited' claims that come with surprise restrictions.

That said, raw resource limits matter less than how efficiently your site uses them. A well-cached WordPress site can serve thousands of visitors a day on a tiny resource footprint - which is why LiteSpeed Cache is included on every plan, with Redis added on Business Hosting plans. We're happy to help you tune your site for efficiency rather than just upsell you to a bigger plan.

Our free Boost feature lets you instantly scale up your account's resources directly from cPanel - useful for traffic spikes (a viral post, a flash sale, a marketing campaign) or one-off heavy tasks (importing data, running batch operations, large migrations).

Each cPanel account gets up to 72 hours of Boost per month at no extra cost. A Boost increases your CPU, RAM, I/O rates and inode capacity for the duration, giving you headroom without needing to upgrade your plan permanently. It's especially handy for bypassing inode limits when you need to clear up files.

Read our knowledge base article on how to use Resource Boosts in cPanel for the full details.

Security & Backups

Yes. Every account includes free AutoSSL - we automatically install and renew Let's Encrypt SSL certificates for your domains so your sites are HTTPS-secured at no extra cost. Certificates renew automatically; you don't need to do anything once your domain is pointed at us. AutoSSL covers up to 100 domains per cPanel account, which is more than enough for almost every use case.

We also offer paid commercial SSL certificates if you need extended validation or a wildcard certificate covering multiple subdomains.

Extremely - we use a multi-layered approach:

  • Imunify360: AI-powered firewall that blocks known and emerging threats using global threat intelligence
  • CageFS: isolates every account so a compromise on one site can't affect others on the server
  • Real-time malware scanning with automated remediation
  • Patchman: automatically patches CMS vulnerabilities (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and more) without breaking your site
  • 2FA, strong password enforcement, and compromised-password detection on both cPanel and your Kualo account
  • Daily backups retained for 30 days with self-restore from cPanel

Read our full web hosting security overview for the complete picture.

Yes. We take a full automatic backup of every account daily and retain them for 30 days. On Performance plans and higher we also take more frequent database-only backups (every few hours, with shorter intervals on higher-tier plans) so your most volatile data has very recent restore points - particularly useful for stores or sites with frequently changing content. You can restore files, databases or your entire account yourself at any time via the control panel, and initiate on-demand snapshots before making significant changes.

Our backups are extremely reliable, however we always recommend keeping your own backups periodically. You may generate a downloadable backup of your account at any time via the control panel, or use a third-party backup plugin if you'd prefer an automated off-site solution.

Yes. WordPress users can create a staging copy of their site with a single click directly from WP Toolkit in cPanel - test changes safely before pushing them live. For other applications (Joomla, Drupal, PrestaShop and many more), Softaculous includes a staging feature for most supported apps. You can also manually create a subdomain as a test environment for any application.

Getting Started & Support

Accounts will be set up immediately after payment. You should receive a welcome email with instructions on getting started within a few minutes of making your payment.

Yes. If you're moving from another host, our team will handle the migration for you free of charge - typically without any downtime to your live site. We'll move your files, databases, emails and DNS configuration, and stage the migration so you can test before pointing your domain at us. See our website transfer service for the full process.

For complex sites or e-commerce stores, we also offer a paid VIP Managed Migration service - fully hands-on, end-to-end. This includes in-depth LiteSpeed Cache optimisation, performance tuning, store reconfiguration where relevant, and dedicated assistance through the cutover. Particularly valuable for high-traffic or transactional sites where every millisecond counts. Get in touch to discuss what's right for your situation.

Yes you can upgrade at any time, and changes typically take effect immediately with no downtime. Simply request the upgrade from your customer area and we'll process it.

More than most. Many hosts treat anything beyond core server administration as out of scope. We take a more generous approach: we'll often help debug PHP errors, troubleshoot CMS issues, advise on configuration, and dig into the cause when something's not working.

This is offered on a best-effort basis, not a guarantee. We're not a substitute for a development team - custom code and application-specific issues sometimes require a developer who knows your code. But within that boundary, we go a long way further than most hosts. If you're stuck, just ask - if we can help, we will, and if it's outside our scope, we'll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.

We provide fast support 24x7x365 by phone, live chat and ticket. For most issues we'd recommend opening a ticket first - it gives our team the full context up-front, and our prioritisation system can automatically flag urgent or production-impacting cases so they get fast-tracked. Phone and live chat are great for quick questions or following up on an existing ticket.

We don't offer design services ourselves - we want to stay focused on doing hosting brilliantly rather than competing with the many great web designers and agencies out there. But we make building yourself genuinely easy:

  • AI Starter Sites for WordPress - generate a complete site in minutes from a few questions about your business
  • SiteBuilder - drag-and-drop visual builder for simple sites
  • WP Toolkit - manage everything WordPress-related from cPanel
  • Softaculous - one-click install of 300+ applications

If you'd prefer to hire a designer, just get in touch - we can point you toward people we trust.

Billing & Domains

You can pay monthly or for 1, 2 or 3 years up front. Prepaying unlocks significant discounts compared to paying month-to-month: a one-year prepayment gives you 2 free months, a 2-year prepayment gives you 4 free months, and a 3-year prepayment gives you 10 free months.

What you pay at signup is what you pay at renewal. We don't believe in deceptive intro offers - the kind some hosts use to lure you in with below-cost pricing, only to double or triple it at renewal. Our pricing is up-front and consistent.

The only caveat is that we may adjust pricing from time to time (as most businesses do), but we'll always give you notice in advance if so. And it'll never be the bait-and-switch you get elsewhere.

If you pre-pay for a longer term and need to leave before it's up, we'll refund the difference between what you paid and what you would have paid on the equivalent shorter term. You lose the discount that came from prepayment, but you're never locked into a fixed term.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and PayPal. We don't support automated recurring billing via PayPal, so if you're paying month-to-month we'd strongly recommend using a credit or debit card.

Yes, we provide a no-quibble 60-day money back guarantee on any hosting fees. If you registered or transferred a domain name, these fees are non-refundable but you would be able to use your domain with any other provider. If you received a free domain with your plan, we will refund all your fees less our standard fee to register the domain that you received for free.

We offer extremely competitive pricing on domain names that is often much cheaper than at other registrars. If you prefer, you can still host with Kualo and keep your domains at any registrar you choose.

Yes. All our plans come with an unlimited number of parked or alias domains.
