Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in MyKualo
Enable two-factor authentication on your MyKualo account to protect it with a second verification step beyond your password.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) protects your MyKualo account by requiring a second form of verification - a time-based code from an authenticator app - in addition to your password.
What is two-factor authentication?
2FA means you need two things to log in: something you know (your password) and something you have (a verification code from your phone or password manager). Even if someone obtains your password, they cannot access your account without that second code.
Before you start
Before enabling 2FA, make sure you have an authenticator app installed and ready. If you lose access to your authenticator and have not saved your backup code, you will need to contact Kualo support and verify your identity to regain access.
You will need one of the following:
- An authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy installed on your mobile device.
- A compatible password manager such as 1Password, which can store and generate 2FA codes.
How to enable 2FA
- Log in to your MyKualo account.
- Click the dropdown menu in the top-right corner where your name appears.
- Select Edit Account Details from the dropdown.
- Click the Two Factor Authentication tab.
- Click Enable 2FA.
- Scan the on-screen QR code using your authenticator app or password manager.
- Write down the backup code displayed on the same screen and store it somewhere safe.
After enabling 2FA
- Every time you log in, you will be prompted to enter a verification code generated by your authenticator app.
- If you use a password manager such as 1Password, you can scan the QR code there instead of using a separate app.
- Keep your backup code in a secure location. If you ever lose access to your authenticator, this code is the only way to recover your account without contacting support.
