So you've built a site with [Kualo's AI Starter Sites](/knowledgebase/ai-starter-sites/getting-started-with-wordpress-ai-starter-sites). It's got pages, words, and some nice images you chose - you've essentially skipped 90% of the hard part.

Now you're ready to make it more *you*. Maybe you didn't add a logo during setup, or you've just created a fresh one. Maybe you want to explore different fonts, or tweak how your header behaves when someone scrolls. That's where Astra steps in.

## What is Astra, and why should you care?

[Astra](https://wpastra.com/) is the theme that powers the skeleton of your website - the layout, the styles, the way everything clicks into place. Think of it as the framework that makes your site look sharp without writing a single line of code. It's used by over 2 million websites, and it works really well alongside [Spectra](/knowledgebase/ai-starter-sites/customising-your-pages-with-spectra), your page builder.

Together they're your design tag-team: Astra handles theme-level styling (headers, menus, blog layout), and Spectra lets you design individual pages with blocks.

## What can you do with Astra?

You can adjust:

- Colours and fonts
- Header and footer layout
- Menus and breadcrumbs
- Sidebar positions and page layout
- Blog archives and post styling
- Container widths, paddings, and margins

If it feels like a site-wide design choice, Astra probably controls it.

## How to open the Astra Customiser

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
2. Go to **Astra > Customize**.
3. You're now in the Astra Customiser - a side panel where you can preview changes live.
4. Make your tweaks, then click **Publish** to save them.
