3. Select **Change Password**.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the change.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.

## Why secure passwords matter

Weak or reused passwords make your account vulnerable, particularly if they have appeared in a public data breach. Attackers can use leaked credential databases to attempt to access accounts automatically.

To reduce this risk, we require all MyKualo passwords to meet the following criteria:

- At least 8 characters long.
- At least one uppercase letter (A-Z).
- At least one lowercase letter (a-z).
- At least one number (0-9).
- At least one special character (for example, `!@#$%^&*`).

These requirements make your password significantly harder to crack using common automated techniques.

## Compromised passwords

If the password you choose matches one found in a known database of compromised credentials, you will be prompted to pick a different one. These databases are compiled from publicly disclosed data breaches and leaks, and any password appearing in them carries a real risk of being used in an attack.

If you see a compromised-password warning, change that password on every service where you use it - including social media, online banking, email, and your cPanel account.

For added security, consider using a password manager such as [1Password](https://1password.com/) to generate and store a unique password for each of your accounts. You can also enable [Two-Factor Authentication](/knowledgebase/help-using-mykualocom/enabling-two-factor-authentication-2fa-in-mykualo) to add a second layer of protection to your MyKualo account.
