Video makes an email stand out, and it's an easy win - emails with video reportedly earn around three times the clicks of those with just an image. You can't embed a playable video in an email (clients block it), but you can add a clickable thumbnail that links out to it. This guide covers how.

## Add a video link

1. Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo.
2. Create your campaign and open the designer.
3. Drag a **Video** block to where you want it.
4. Add your video link. You can customise the play icon's shape and colour.

The block shows a thumbnail with a play button; clicking it takes the recipient to the hosted video.

## Troubleshooting

**The video won't play in the email** - it can't; the thumbnail links out to the hosting platform. Make sure that link works.

**Thumbnail issues** - use a high-quality image (around 1280x720), keep it optimised (under ~200 KB), and add alt text for when images are blocked.

**Low click rates** - make the play button prominent, use an engaging thumbnail, and add text encouraging the click.

**Platform restrictions** - check the video is public or unlisted and that embedding is allowed; YouTube and Vimeo are the most compatible.
