This guide walks you through adding your Kualo email account to Apple Mail on a Mac using IMAP. Before you start, make sure you have already [set up an email account in your control panel](/knowledgebase/cpanel-how-tos/how-to-create-an-email-account-in-cpanel).

## Add the account

1. Open Mail and go to **Mail > Add Account**.

2. Select **Other Mail Account** and click **Continue**.

3. Enter your **Name** as you want it to appear to recipients, your full **email address**, and the **password** for the account. Click **Continue**.

4. If Mail does not detect your server settings automatically, enter them manually. You can find your exact settings in cPanel by going to **Email Accounts > Connect Devices**. The typical values are:

   - **Incoming server:** `mail.yourdomain.com`
   - **Outgoing server:** `mail.yourdomain.com`

Replace `yourdomain.com` with your actual domain name.

5. Choose the apps you want to use with this account. **Mail** is required. If you tick **Notes**, the Notes app will store notes in a folder within this mailbox. Click **Done**.

## Switch to secure SSL/TLS settings

Once the account is added, update it to use encrypted connections.

1. Go to **Mail > Settings** (or **Mail > Preferences** on older versions of macOS), select your account from the list, and click the **Server Settings** tab.
2. Set the following values:

   | Setting | Value |
   |---|---|
   | Incoming mail server | `mail.yourdomain.com` |
   | Incoming port | 993 |
   | Outgoing mail server | `mail.yourdomain.com` |
   | Outgoing port | 465 |

Enable SSL/TLS for both incoming and outgoing connections.

3. Click **Save**.

## Verify the connection

To confirm everything is working, go to **Window > Connection Doctor**. A green indicator next to both IMAP and SMTP means your account is set up correctly.
